ive wrestled my whole life and if i had to pick one and only one out of boxing or jiu jitsu cause i wanna fight ufc what one should i pickI need mma advice help me?
jujitsu for sure, you can take boxing for free or for really cheap in a lot of places, i can do it for free and have a friend who trains with a professional boxer for 3 dollars a week, and he can come practice anytime he wants, unlimited lessons.
now jujitsu isn't that cheap especially Brazilian jujitsu, its gonna be harder to find and way more expensive.
but its way better for mma, however, boxing helps you a lot too in they way of being able to take shots to the head and body. if you could I would definitely take bothI need mma advice help me?
If you want to fight in the UFC, you'll have to get good at both disciplines. Then you're going to have to learn some muay Thai. Even if you're not an expert, you'll need to be familiar with the clinch and the special, fun little problems that come along with fighting a muay Thai expert. (Like leg kicks. Those are fun.)
Now that sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but you don't have to learn each art individually. Locate a MMA gym. If you go to a strict jiu-jitsu gym, they'll teach you to be a jiu-jitsu fighter, go to a boxing school, they'll teach you to box. You don't need that. What you need is an ability to blend it all together seamlessly.
Besides, walk into a boxing gym and ask them to train you in boxing, FOR MMA. It won't go well I assure you.
So find an MMA gym. If you can't do that, learn muay Thai, boxing, and BJJ basics on your own and practice working them all together.
Wrestling is a solid base and if you apply yourself, adding good stand up and submissions, you'll do well.
Good luck!
boxing,
work on your stand up first before the ground
but i would say you need both of them because when it comes to the ground and you dont know what your doing. you gonna get caught into a submission
Depends on a number of factors. Boxing is normally cheaper than BJJ; a good BJJ class might be easier to find than a good boxing class; do you want to use your wrestling to stop takedowns, like Chuck Liddell, or use it to ground-and-pound and set up submissions, like Joe Stevenson?
I would say that BJJ is probably the more vital of the two. It's practically a prerequisite for doing MMA. You have to know how to pass the guard, and how to avoid submissions, at least. But in the end you need both submission skills and striking skills. You won't be a complete fighter 'til you learn both aspects, and combine them with your takedown skills.
MMA = mixed_martial_arts. your going to need both.
If you absolutely had to choose I would go with BJJ but there is no way it will be enough.
I suggest finding an MMA gym
