Wet your hair in the morning with a spray bottle. Make sure hair is very wet - re-wet it in the shower real fast if you need to. Towel-dry. Apply a frizz serum (I use Zero Frizz from Wal-Mart, bigger and cheaper than Frizz Ease). Apply enough to saturate hair. Then use a mousse (I use Herbal Essences). Use a Ceramic Ionic blow-dryer with diffusing attachment (big, round with finger-like spikes) and blow-dry hair on low hot heat. Gently scrunch your hair with the diffuser. Point the blow-dryer up at the ends of your hair and push up towards your head with your hair in the diffuser. Repeat until it's dry, and go over with a cool blast until your hair is cool to set the style.
its best to go into a salon(preferably bubbles if in your region) and look for a curl enhancing creme for a soft look and a gel for a hard crunchy look.
You also want to find a smoothing/shine serum. To style your hair, apply a small amount of the serum to wet or damp hair, starting at the ends and then working throughout. Next, use a little more then a quarter size amount of creme or gel and work throughout your hair with the same technique, ends first, then roots. Continue to use the creme or gel until your hair is saturated. Finally, you can use a diffuser, which is an attachment for your blow dryer, or use your hand to scrunch your hair. The easiest way is to flip your head upside down and scrunch towards your scalp. When using a diffuser, its best to use a low heat setting. You can find a diffuser at Sally's or online if you have a professional blow dryer
