I need some advice to help myself in school.?

I have a horrable memory and i cant ever remember anything for like tests, quizzes and in class when im picked to do something unexpected.i just pass my classes with a 65 or a little bit higher. the only classes i do good in are my specials, reading and english.studying dosent help me ever. my teachers are boring and dont make the class fun and unless i have a teacher that is willing to make the fun i end up failing the class.i need help with trying to remeber things and get better grades.I need some advice to help myself in school.?
I have this problem too. I have a learning disability, but I don't let it stop me. I learned ways around this problem.

First of all figure out what kind of learner you are. Are you a visual learner (learn best by seeing it done or viewing pictures) or are you an audio learner ( you learn best by hearing it). A visual (hands on) learner would do best with things they can see, feel, or make. An audio learner can do best by hearing things...like a text book on tape for instance. (they do have them)

If you know the material and you freeze up when asked (or on a test) then it sounds like ';Test Anxiety';

Also sounds like your dealing with boredom here as well (which is normal for most people in school). There are several things you can do.

1) talk to your teacher about it (they may have some suggestions)

2) if the teacher is dull, find ways to make yourself interested in the class

3) when studying for a test use word association. Example...I have a problem remembering the tech word for working with gems and rocks and making them into jewlery and the like...it's called ';lapidary'; which was a hard word for me to remember. So, I associated it with imagining a dog (which laps up liquids) licking a dairy cow ';lap-a-dairy'; (silly I know, but it works) Find an image or a word that will trigger you to remember what you're supposed to remember.

I used this technique in college. Just play around with it and see what works best for you.

4) another technique I used in highschool was to take the study material and make my own practice tests. I could find out how much I knew and what I needed to study.

5) make your own flash cards and get a friend, or parent, to help you study with them.

6) I used writing repitition. I would write down the information over and over again. What your hand muscles learn, your brain also learns. I

7) When learning the names of the bones in 6th grade I would tape my voice on a tape recorder and repeat the names of the bones and what they were connected too. That, along with an anatomy map, helped me learn them and I still remember the bones to this day.

Remember, if you really want something, chances are you're going to find a way to accomplish it. If you really want this, you'll find ways to do it.

Hope these help.I need some advice to help myself in school.?
One of the tricks I used to use to boost my memory of things I'd learned in class was to study my notes as soon after class as possible. Take good notes and participate in discussons. Ask questions to clarify. When you take notes, don't try to write down everything the teacher says. Write down key points, and then fill in details later when you read your text.

When you're studying, don't try to read the entire chapter. Skim it for important things highlighted in bold, and write down key points of what you've read. You can always go back to what you've read. Compare notes with a study buddy once or twice a week, and ask for help with something our friend understands well. Also, don't be afraid to get a tutor. If you're not understanding anything in class, talk to your parents. They can help you with speaking to a guidance counselor or academic dean about being tested for a learning disability. I'm not saying you have one, but if you do, you can get help to learn better. Good luck.
Well if I were you, I would either make flash cards to help me, or you could also think of little sayings to help you remember things. Like for example:

Some

Old

Hippie

Caught

Another

Hippie

Trippin'

On

Acid

That helps me remember my math. Like SOHCAHTOA you can also do things like that in science like

Kings

Play

Chess

On

Fine

Grain

Sand

Which helps me remember the order of taxonomy like Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.

Also I would take notes and highlight the key points that will be the most important things to remember on the test. Make sure you look over your notes every night, not just the day before the test. Cramming does not help. Even though you may remember the informatino the next day, if you have a Final test on it, you won't remember.

So I guess the only things that will help you are to: STUDY, Make flash cards, Find sayings, don't give up, and also you can have a friend test you and then you can brush up on the things that you didn't understand. AND ASK YOUR TEACHER FOR HELP. If you don't understand something, all good teachers will donate extra time to help you. :]
I used to have the same troubles, the best thing to do is to create a rival that you would like beating that person in anything then set your limits. If you study, study in the morning
How about getting a good breakfast and going to sleep at around 8 or 9 PM. That should leave u feeling good and energized. Even if you have a boring teacher that makes you fall asleep with the energy from eating right and sleeping youll pay alot of attention and memorize things more quickly.
Well when you get notices on tests you should get some post-its and write it down and stick where you would always see. Or the old-fashioned way, tie a string around your finger for every reminder you need. Also try to get a little study group with some friends or classmates. =)
my teacher recommended rewards. if you study hard or memorize a fact and can remember it for a couple of days, and pass a test, give yourself rewards, like candy or a special treat. hope it works :)
Note taking and reviewing them in your own time helps. Once you've jotted them down, go over them slowly and in your own time. They will start to stick when you least expect. Practice good study habits, fool around with them and see what works for you.

If nothing still works after a couple of weeks, maybe you have other things on your mind that are interfering with your concentration. If need be, get some counseling, it could be a bigger problem than you thought.
flash cards always helped me and writing the things down that i cant remember a couple times help too just try it and it might work school is very important so you have to try all of the ways possible
first, go to your doctor. maybe u have a memory deffiency or something and u ned prescription for it.
when you are studying, look for something in it that will help you remember. it doesn't even have to make sense, just thinking it will make it stick in your brain. for example, for vocabulary if remember the word Officious by thinking the beginining sounds like office, and in an office there is someone who is always prying and trying to find out what is going on with you, and then the meaning of this word is:meddlesome, prying, impertinent, obtrusive . so that helps me. another example which is so far fetched but it is more interesting to remember then the actual definition is for the word Clandestine. i remember it by looking at the est in the word and thinking of this girl i know named este. now this girl is dating this guy named john, and she is probably cheating on him, and in order to do so she has to be really sneaky about it and undercover. now the meaning of this word is: covert, furtive, surreptitious, stealthy .

so i really hope this helps you! good luck!
if you study really hard, right before you go to sleep, this may help your brain to retain more information...';cramming'; sessions. this is what i did.... i'm the worst procrastinator, and always did everything, projects, reports, studying for tests etc at the last minute. (usually the night before it was due) and always managed to get A's and B's.

that's how i did it! hope you find something that works for you!
I had a very similar experience in school Just find what you like to do and apply each subject to your favorite thing. Like the 6 degrees of separation. Each subject can interact with the other and the next thing you know you can remember it all by association It worked for me and I graduated with a B avg
You are good at English and reading, right? The problem is that you are bad at math and science, and maybe dates in history class. Anything with numbers is a problem, right? This is because you have stronger qualitative skills (words, images, concepts, and ideas), versus quantitative (facts, figures, sums, amounts). You need to focus on writing, studying English literature, communications, foreign language, art, music, theater, and social science. You will do fine in college in those areas. What school are you in where English and reading are considered';special';!?! They are fundamental skills! The reason your classes are boring is because your teachers are bad at English and communicating, which is the thing you are good at! In the meantime, see if you can get a tutor for the math and science, and you have to keep practicing those areas because you are not good at them, and they are very important. Also try drilling yourself with the numbers (repeating them over an over like a song). Good luck, and keep reading! Read as much as you can!
Try studying more often.
well i remember things ok. But i think it helps so much more when I actually do the hw instead of copying it from someone the hw really does help. ALso i always make up little sayings. I think its best though when u go to take a test cram it doesnt work for everyone but it does for me then i go into a test feeling confident even if im not and dont stress it and im fine.
